Description

Cover ecological approaches to pest management for the small farm and garden. It will provide an overview of insect biology and ecology and some common organic pest management approaches.

Workshop facilitated by: Dr. Matt Grieshop

Dr. Grieshop joined the MSU department of Entomology in 2007 as the Organic Pest Management faculty member. The overall goal of his research and extension efforts are to develop, refine, and deliver pest management technologies that minimize off farm inputs while preserving farm economic sustainability. In addition to teaching a regularly scheduled Organic Pest Management Course (ENT 479) he also regularly mentors between 4 to 10 graduate and undergraduate students as well as 1-3 post-doctoral research associates per year.

The Hunter Park GardenHouse, a project of Allen Neighborhood Center, is a hub for year-round farm & garden education, where neighbors volunteer to grow food, flowers, and community, and where youth develop job and life skills in service to the neighborhood.
