Description

Pasture Song Farm is located on 90 acres of the Lundale Farm Preserve in Chester County. Farmers Jeremy Dunphy and Clara Osborne manage the operation, including the breeding, raising, and marketing of over 150 pigs each year.

Pasture Song moves their pigs regularly through annual and perennial pastures in rotation with field crops, including corn and small grains, which are harvested and ground on their farm for feed. The finished pork products are sold through farmers markets, CSA meat shares, and various wholesale accounts. During this workshop, you’ll learn about the pitfalls and rewards of raising pigs on pasture in rotation with other crops, including strategies for fencing, shelter, pasture management, making feed and bedding, and crop rotation.

Participants should be prepared to walk uphill to access some of the farm’s fields. Following lunch, you’ll have the option to tour Pasture Song’s cut flower operation.

About PASA Sustainable Agriculture

We’re a Pennsylvania-based sustainable agriculture association founded in 1992. We work to build a more economically-just, environmentally-regenerative, and community-focused food system through education and research that directly supports farmers.

We coordinate year-round workshops and events, administer formal farming apprenticeships, and facilitate research that empowers farmers with data they value. We also work to foster productive connections between farmers, community members, local businesses, policymakers, and other stakeholders.
