Aland Foundation was born with the vision of creating a resilient territory in the face of climate change in the Iberian Peninsula. For this purpose, it aims to connect initiatives that are working on restoration projects in Spain 🇪🇸 and Portugal 🇵🇹 to exchange knowledge , to have more strength and influence on public policies ️ and to be a source of inspiration for others.
The restoration of degraded territories must be addressed as a systemic change to have a real and lasting impact over time, reversing the current situation of biodiversity loss , desertification ️, lack of opportunities for young people , lack of pride for rural territories ️.
The model 4 returns – 3 zones -20 years, created by the Commonland Foundation, can be the tool ️ to develop these restoration projects.
1️⃣ Return of Natural Capital
2️⃣ Returns on Social Capital
3️⃣ Return on Financial Capital
4️⃣ Inspiration Return
3 Zones: Natural – Agricultural – Economic
This 4R model is tested in the project that the AlVelAl Association is developing in the Southeast Steppe of the peninsula . A territory of 1 million hectares in which a movement of people who restore soil, water, biodiversity and community has been created.
There are many initiatives restoring territories , promoting agriculture that regenerates soil , managing ecosystems to be a source of biodiversity and carbon sinks, creating companies that add value to products coming from restoration , but it is time to unite to have greater strength and impact to scale.
