Description
Co-Creating the Emerging Future: Doughnut Economics
Welcome to the Transformation Systems dialogue series!
This dialogue is the fourth of a series of five co-inquiry sessions into human development in the Anthropocene, building from the Human Development Report 2020. It continues the journey through Presencing Institute’s (PI) Theory U as a method for awareness based systems change.
During this fourth dialogue, we will cover the ongoing work of applying Doughnut Economics in the Global South, which builds on the idea that economic growth needs to be viewed as a means to reaching social goals within ecological limits, not as an indicator of success in itself. We will reflect on the challenges of realizing the SDGs without violating our planetary boundaries in the context of our cities.
Featured speakers and facilitators:
- Kate Raworth, Economist Oxford and Cambridge University
- Dr. Jemilah Mahmood, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Malaysia and the Under Secretary General for Partnerships in the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies
- Otto Scharmer, MIT Senior Lecturer and Co-Founder, Presencing Institute
If you missed the last dialogue, check it out here. This initiative builds from the Awareness-based Collective Action dialogue series in July-August 2020, led by Otto Scharmer and based on Theory U. Visit the Summer Dialogue series SparkBlue page to read about the origins of this journey.
