Description
CarboScen was developed as a tool which computes the amount of carbon stored in a dynamic landscape. If land use changes occur and carbon densities may shift due to past uses, CarboScen allows more accurate calculation of the carbon stored. It is a simple tool typically using an annual time frame, based on carbon pools and densities. Thanks to its simplicity, it is a particularly suitable tool for participatory planning, rapid assessment of REDD+ project potential, and educational use.
CarboScen is currently a downloadable application for Windows desktop, on version 1.0.1. There is also an article available on the methodology of CarboScen and a youtube tutorial video series which can walk you through how to use CarboScen, step-by-step.
CarbonScen was developed by CIFOR in partnership with the University of Helsinki, Vitri, simosol, Norad, and GIZ, among others.
