Description

Agro-forestry-livestock farming has been and must once again be considered as a fundamental axis of any food, social, cultural, economic, labour, political and environmental system, especially in rural areas, but also in peri-urban and urban environments. In order to be able to feed everyone in a healthy way, without exhausting the natural resources available to us, we must change our practices and habits. Numerous examples are regularly brought to our attention, the most blatant being the imbalance in consumption in different regions and the quantities of food discarded annually. The production of nutritious and affordable food, the responsible and rational use of water, and the dignity of people are vital levers of change in these times.

Soil plays a fundamental role in the current situation of climate change, influenced by the accumulation of so-called greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. In its normal dynamics, the soil contributes to the fixation of atmospheric CO2 through the development of vegetation and the performance of photosynthesis, a process in which plants transform carbon dioxide into various polysaccharides.

This document is created with the aim of clarifying a series of concepts and definitions related to Regenerative Agriculture, as well as establishing the bases for the actions which form part of this type of agriculture.
